Introduction

This Workshop on Network Technology is held from 8 to 13 June 2003, in conjunction with the fourth meeting of the African Network Operators Group, AfNOG 2003, which takes place on 14 and 15 June 2003.

The venue for both the Workshop and the AfNOG meeting is the Hotel Africana in Kampala, Uganda.

The workshop aims to offer advanced training to operators of existing African Internet Service Providers (ISPs) who are participants in the process of developing and enhancing a national Internet with regional and international connectivity.

This workshop builds upon the experiences of the previous AfNOG workshops held in Cape Town (South Africa) in 2000, Accra (Ghana) in 2001, Lomé (Togo) in 2002, and the Internet Society's INET workshops held during 1993-2000 at eight locations around the world.

Goals

The goals of the Workshop are:

Workshop tracks / Thèmes des ateliers

An intensive program of instruction is planned for the workshop, composed of two instructional tracks in English, and one in French. Participants attend only one of the tracks, since the tracks run concurrently. All participants will engage in extensive hands-on training, setting up and managing prototype infrastructure and services.

Detailed information for each track appears below.
