In the trunking case: It’s pretty common for service providers to aggregate leased lines via circuit emulation services and inverse multiplexing into a common shared media. (Especially if the lines are going across the country)
So, if we are trunked, we are back to single point of failure. If you care enough to specify separate router connections in your SLA, then specify separate trunk connections too.
