Introduction

This Workshop on Network Technology is held from 22 to 27 April 2007, in conjunction with the eighth meeting of the African Network Operators Group, AfNOG 2007, the sixth public meeting of AfriNIC, AfriNIC-6, and several other meetings from 28 April to 4 May 2007.

The venue for the workshop and meetings is the Rockview Hotel in Abuja, Nigeria.

The workshop aims to offer advanced training to operators of existing African Internet Service Providers (ISPs) who are participants in the process of developing and enhancing a national Internet with regional and international connectivity.

This workshop builds upon the experiences of the previous AfNOG workshops held in Cape Town (South Africa) in 2000, Accra (Ghana) in 2001, Lomé (Togo) in 2002, Kampala (Uganda) in 2003, Dakar (Sénégal) in 2004, Maputo (Moçambique) in 2005, Nairobi (Kenya) in 2006, and the Internet Society's INET workshops held from 1993–2000 at eight locations around the world.

Goals

The goals of the Workshop are:

Workshop tracks / Thèmes des ateliers

An intensive program of instruction is planned for the workshop, composed of three instructional tracks in English, and one in French. Participants attend only one of the tracks, since the tracks run concurrently. All participants will engage in extensive hands-on training, setting up and managing prototype infrastructure and services.

Detailed information for each track appears below.
